I was reading Numbers 7 this morning. This particular chapter has always brought a question to mind. Each tribe in Israel brings an offering to the dedication of the alter. The leader of each tribe in it’s turn brings their offering and Moses records the day, leader and tribe for that day. What I’ve never quite figured out is why Moses records the exact same detailed list of items offered for each tribe.
The computer geek in me thinks, why not have Moses tell the tribes what the dedication offering is to be then just record which leader & tribe brought the offering that day? But I realize that the Holy Spirit inspired all Scripture, so the fact that the offering of each tribe is listed in detail. So I know it’s of some importance, but I’m not sure why.
